SUPERFAST, TRAFFIC-FREE COURSE

The TWIN LAKES 20 is a stunning 10-mile and 20-mile race (2-lap) that will prepare you for your Spring half/marathon experience without having to run on your own. You can enjoy the incredibly scenic, superfast, and traffic-free course through the stunning Milton Keynes countryside. Lapping two beautiful lakes, following the picturesque River Ouzel and the Grand Union Canal, you’ll never be far from the water! The course is multi-terrain with about 80% on cycle paths with some gravel paths and the remainder on the canal towpath.

REGISTRATION

Enter before the end of February to collect your bib in advance of the event.

Enter during March to have your number ready for collection at the Race HQ.

Registration will close when we sell out.

MINIMUM AGE

Runners must be at least 17 years old to run the 10-mile race, and 18 years old to run the 20-mile race.

     RACE ROUTE

The 20-mile race will be two laps.

The TWIN LAKES 20 is a friendly event organised by Dirt Running who have been organising trail races since 2009, making sure you have the best day possible.

This race is an ideal training run for anyone running a Spring half marathon or full marathon.

TIMING
This event will be chip timed using state-of-the-art disposable timing chips attached to the reverse of your running number.

RACE NUMBER

Your Race Number incorporates a timing chip inside the foam on the reverse.
PLEASE DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE TIMING CHIP.
Attach your number to the front of your running top where marshals can see it. Complete any medical information and emergency contact details on the reverse of your running number. You must not allow anybody else to run with your number. Safety pins will be available in the Race HQ if required.

LATE STARTERS
Sorry, no late starters.

RACE TIME LIMIT

The time limit to complete the 10-mile or 20-mile race will be 5 hours. This is based on 15 min/mile pace.

If a 20-mile runner does not reach the halfway point in 2.5 hours then they will be asked to withdraw from the race.

GETTING TO WILLEN LAKE

Willen Lake, V10 Brickhill Street, Milton Keynes, MK15 0DS

BY CAR: Use the postcode MK15 0DS in your Sat Nav.

If you are on the M1, exit at Junction 14 and follow the signs to Central Milton Keynes until you pick up the signs for Willen Lake.

BUS: Catch the number 8 bus from Milton Keynes centre to Woolstone Roundabout West.
Walking down from the bus stop, take the first right at the Redway junction under the main road, then take your first left into Willen Lake.

CYCLING: If you are local then take the stress out of race day and cycle to the venue.

BAGGAGE
If possible please leave your bags in your Vehicle. If this isn’t possible then please use the small managed baggage tent in the Event Village. Please do not leave valuables in your bag. Bags are to be left at your own risk.

CHANGING
You will be able to use the toilets at Splash N Play and at the new Watersport Centre to change.

TERRAIN
The course is multi-terrain with about 80% on cycle paths with some gravel paths and approximately one and a half miles on the canal towpath.

REFRESHMENTS
There will be a mobile coffee van selling hot and cold drinks as well as snacks before and after the race.
The new Benugo Bar & Kitchen at Willen Lake will also be open from 08:00.

WATER STOPS

We will have regular Aid Stations.

Aid Stations 10-MILE: Mile 3, 6.5 and at the finish

Aid Stations 20-MILE: Mile 3, 6.5, 10, 13, 16.5 and at the finish

Aid Stations will offer water in cups

LITTER
Please put all the rubbish in the bins provided and only drop litter at the Aid Stations or give it to a course marshal.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY LITTER OR GEL WRAPPERS ON THE COURSE.

TOILETS
There will be portable toilets in the event village. You can also use the toilets at Splash N Play and at the new Watersport Centre.

MERCHANDISE
You will be able to purchase merchandise during the registration process or up until 28 February at midnight, by logging back into your Eventrac account here: dirtrunning.eventrac.co.uk

Merchandise purchases will be posted monthly. We will also be selling merchandise on Race Day.

iTAB
iTab purchases will automatically be posted a few days after the event. You do not need to do anything.

TRAIL RUNNING ASSOCIATION
The Twin Lakes 20 is organised by Dirt Running under a license from the Trail Running Association (TRA). The TRA is an associate member of UK Athletics (UKA). The TRA supports UKA in the management and regulation of trail running, and through this association with UKA, the TRA is able to issue permits to race organisers on behalf of UKA.

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
All runners must be medically fit to compete and enter at their own risk and the organisers will in no way be held responsible for any injury, accident, loss, or damage that may arise before, during, or after the event as a consequence of their participation in this race. We do not offer refunds or deferrals under any circumstances. You can transfer your place – please see the FAQs. No dogs or pushchairs are allowed.

IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY
The race director and the emergency services reserve the right to cancel or stop the race at any time if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.
