The TWIN LAKES 20 mile race will prepare you for your marathon race experience without having to run on your own. You can enjoy the incredibly scenic, superfast, and traffic-free course through the stunning Milton Keynes countryside. Starting with a lap of the beautiful Willen South Lake and then following the picturesque River Ouzel all the way to Caldecotte Lake before heading back to Willen via the Grand Union Canal, you’ll never be far from the water! The course is multi-terrain with about 80% on cycle paths with some gravel paths and the remainder on the canal towpath.
The TWIN LAKES 20 (previously known as the BEDFORD20) is a friendly event organised by Dirt Running with 11 years of running event experience, making sure you have the best day possible.
This race is an ideal training run for anyone running an Autumn marathon.
This course is predominantly flat.
This event will be chip timed using state-of-the-art disposable timing chips attached to the reverse of your running number.

RACE TIME LIMIT
The time limit to complete the 20-mile race will be 5 hours. This is based on 15 min/mile pace.
If a runner does not reach the halfway point in 2.5 hours then they will be asked to withdraw from the race.
Permit Reference TRA/4002. The race will be run under UKA rules
Race Number: Your Race Number incorporates a timing chip inside the foam on the reverse.
PLEASE DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE TIMING CHIP.
Attach your number to the front of your running top where marshals can see it. Complete any medical information and emergency contact details on the reverse of your running number. You must not allow anybody else to run with your number. Safety pins will be available in the Race HQ if required.
GETTING TO WILLEN LAKE

BY CAR: Use the postcode MK15 0DS in your Sat Nav.
If you are on the M1, exit at Junction 14 and follow the signs to Central Milton Keynes until you pick-up the signs for Willen Lake.
BUS: Catch the number 8 bus from Milton Keynes centre to Woolstone Roundabout West.
Walking down from the bus stop, take the first right at the Redway junction under the main road, then take your first left into Willen Lake.
CYCLING: If you are local then take the stress out of race day and cycle to the venue.
NORTH BAY CAR PARK: Off Newlands roundabout, V10 Brickhill St (Splash ‘n’ Play, play areas, and wakeboarding). This car park operates an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, and payment must be made prior to exiting the car park (NOT ON ARRIVAL). You can pay by card over the phone or at the machines. For instructions and the Terms and Conditions of Parking please view the signs which are located next to each pay station.
SOUTH BAY CAR PARK: Off Lakeside roundabout, V10 Brickhill St (by the hotel, gym, and The Lakeside pub). This Car Park operates a pay and display system (cash only), which means you pay upon arrival into this car park. For the Terms and Conditions of Parking please view the signs which are located throughout the car park.

There will be a mobile coffee van selling hot and cold drinks as well as snacks before and after the race.
The new Benugo Bar & Kitchen at Willen Lake will also be open from 08:00.
Please bring your own hydration and nutrition to the event, using bottle belts and hydration backpacks, etc. We will have Aid Stations every 5 miles and volunteers will refill water bottles using jugs and offer water in cups.

Aid Stations will offer water in cups.
Please put all the rubbish in the bins provided and only drop litter at the Aid Stations or give it to a course marshal.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY LITTER OR GEL WRAPPERS ON THE COURSE.
There will be portable toilets in the event village. You can also use the toilets at Splash N Play and at the new Watersport Centre.
You will be able to purchase merchandise during the registration process or up until 13 August at midnight, by logging back into your Active account here: myevents.active.com. Merchandise purchases will be posted out monthly. We will be selling merchandise on Race Day.
iTab purchases will automatically be posted a few days after the event. You do not need to do anything.

All finishers will receive a TWIN LAKES 20 Technical T-Shirt from Ladies size 8 to Unisex 2XL. Select your size when you enter. The actual design may change.
TREES NOT TEES
The Twin Lakes 20 supports Trees Not Tees. Simply tick the box next to the T-shirt sizing selection on the entry form which says, “I don’t need another T-shirt – please plant a tree for me instead”. We will then pay for a tree to be planted for you instead.

Spectators are welcome on the course but are reminded to follow the latest UK Government social distancing guidelines.
You have the option to Protect your booking with Active Refund for a small fee when you register. This is an insurance policy with a 3rd party and nothing to do with our event. You could receive a full refund of the purchase price and processing fee should you be unable to attend the event due to a specified reason, such as:
Injury or illness
Vehicle breakdown or theft
Adverse weather resulting in travel warnings

TRAIL RUNNING ASSOCIATION
The Twin Lakes 20 is organised by Dirt Running under a license from the Trail Running Association (TRA). The TRA is an associate member of UK Athletics (UKA). The TRA supports UKA in the management and regulation of trail running, and through this association with UKA, the TRA is able to issue permits to race organisers on behalf of UKA.
TERMS & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
All runners must be medically fit to compete and enter at their own risk and the organisers will in no way be held responsible for any injury, accident, loss, or damage that may arise before, during, or after the event as a consequence of their participation in this race. We do not offer refunds or deferrals under any circumstances. You can transfer your place – please see FAQS. No dogs or pushchairs are allowed.
IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY
The race director and the emergency services reserve the right to cancel or stop the race at any time if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.
